"I’m thankful for my struggle, because without it I wouldn’t have stumbled across my strength” -Alex Elle
We officially have less than one month left of the year. Gosh, where has 2024 gone? It seems like we were just talking about setting new goals for the new year, and here we are preparing for Christmas and the end of the year. As I look back on this past year, it’s been amazing to me to see how much we, as a clinic, have grown, and how many patients we have been able to help. Of course, this growth hasn’t always been easy. There have been trials to overcome and we continue to go through “growing pains” as a clinic because we are adding more services for our patients to make Schofield Spine + Motion more of a “one stop clinic” for many different needs.
This quote above is important to remember during these times. This is also very applicable to our health and mobility. As a physical therapist, I have to help patients through hard movements, or challenge them to push past an obstacle. In the moment, it’s hard for the patient (and myself) to push past that, because either it hurts, or it’s just plain hard. Once through that challenge, though, it’s so fun to see patients’ eyes light up and get excited about doing something hard, and making progress towards their goals.
As we transition into a time of rejoicing, I challenge you to take time to reflect over this past year: the challenges, the successes, and the small things to be grateful for. Are there things that seemed hard months ago, but now you find easy? What things can you be thankful for and focus on for this last month of 2024? I would encourage you to make a list of the small things for which you can rejoice in and give thanks. Additionally, I encourage you to make a list of things you can do to continue to build on your successes. Here is a short list of things that I am celebrating as I reflect over the past eleven months of 2024:
Are there things on your list that you can do now, but couldn’t complete earlier this year? Or, are there things that maybe you could do earlier this year, that you struggle with now? Either way, we are grateful you have chosen us to help you through these moments and know we will continue to do all we can to help you move well, feel well, and live well.
